Adams 12 Five Star Schools has partnered with Arrow Performance Group to lead the district in a comprehensive evaluation focusing on racial equity. The district’s goal is to ensure access, opportunity and a sense of belonging for students and staff in their school community. 

The Equity Review includes analyzing existing data, reviewing current policies and practices, and developing a better understanding of the experiences of staff, students and families through surveys, focus groups, interviews and site visits. As we go through this process with a focus on racial equity, the lessons learned can and will be applied to other areas as a long-term commitment to ongoing equity work in Five Star Schools.

The district will share the findings, resulting recommendations and planned action steps that result from this review once it is complete, likely in the second half of this school year.


Feedback from students, families and staff will be crucial to conducting the district’s Equity Review. 

  • October: School Culture 360 Survey of all families, educators and students in grades 6-12. This survey explores the following five areas:
    • academic emphasis and excellence;

    • whole-student development (including the practices associated with strong citizenship formation such as an open classroom);

    • organizational coherence (the mission and practices align);

    • sense of belonging (communality); and

    • trust and support among adults across the school community.

  • November: 
    • Focus groups and interviews: Arrow Performance Group and Adams 12 Five Star Schools will partner to reach out to staff, teachers, students and community members to invite them to participate in focus groups and interviews to share their experiences and perspectives.
    • School site visits: Walkthroughs of school buildings throughout the district to assess how they reflect and celebrate culture and diversity. 
  • Early 2022:
    • Release findings and recommendations: Adams 12 Five Star Schools will share the findings of the Equity Review, as well as any resulting recommendations and action steps with staff, families and the community.
