The Substitute Office is located in the Human Resources Department at the ESC building 1500 E. 128th Ave, Thornton. Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Current Substitutes:

If you have noticed a change in the number of calls you are receiving from the Substitute Calling System, this is probably due to changes made to your profile. The system is working properly; profiles were updated with the information provided on the Substitute Preference Surveys. With profiles updated, the system is distributing calls more efficiently.

Our greatest need for substitutes is on Mondays and Fridays. Please check you profile to ensure you are available on these days in order to receive calls.

Please keep your profile up to date with your availability. If you have a commitment and will not be able to substitute on a certain day(s) or time(s), please make yourself unavailable for that day or time only. This will keep the system from calling you to work that day and free it up to contact another substitute that is available to work.

Retirees and Former Teachers of Adams 12 Five Star School District

Retired or separated teachers from Adams 12 who are interested in substitute teaching in the 2012-13 school year, must meet the following requirements:

  • Taught with Adams 12 within the last three (3) months
  • Eligible for rehire
  • Submit a cover letter indicating your interest in substitute teaching

Please send your cover letter to Human Resources/Substitute Office, 1500 E. 128th Ave, Thornton, CO 80241 for consideration. You will be contacted if selected.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have been separated from employment with the district for more than three (3) months you must apply to be a substitute teacher when a posting is available on the district website.

Payroll Information

The payroll period is from the 16th of every month through the 15th of the following month. The district's payroll method is through direct deposit only. On the last business day of each month you will receive a notice sent to you via email, stating the net amount deposited into your account.

2012-13 Substitute Teacher Pay Rates

$ 95.00 per day or $47.50 per 1/2 day for the first 30 days
$114.00 per day or $57.00 per 1/2 day after the 30th day **3-year substitute license will need to complete required course to reach this rate of pay when eligible for increase.
$133.00 per day or $66.50 per 1/2 day for long-term assignments after the 20th consecutive day for the same teacher (the difference will be paid retroactively to the 1st day of the job)

2012-13 Adams 12 Retiree Substitute Teacher Pay Rates

$114.00 per day or $57.00 per 1/2 day
$142.50 per day or $71.25 per 1/2 day for long-term assignments after the 20th consecutive day for the same teacher (the difference will be paid retroactively to the 1st day of the job)

2012-13 Adams 12 Classified Substitutes Pay Rates

You are paid hourly at step 1 of the Classified Salary Table for the title of the position that you would be substituting for.
