International Baccalaureate (IB)
The district has expanded the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum to encompass K-12 with the long-standing anchor Diploma Program at Thornton High School. The IB K-12 continuum begins with the Primary Years Program (PYP) in grades K-5, continues with the Middle Years Program (MYP) in grades 6-10 and culminates with the Diploma Program in grades 11-12. Students can enter the IB program at any grade level.
The PYP is offered school-wide to all students at Coronado Hills, Leroy Drive, McElwain and Thornton Elementary Schools.
The 6th, 7th and 8th grade grade portion of MYP is currently offered school-wide at The International School at Thornton Middle and on an application basis to a portion of the students at Century Middle School.
The 9th and 10th grade portion of MYP is offered school-wide to all students at Thornton High School.
The Diploma Program is offered on an application basis at Thornton High School.
