Five Star District to prepare for large investment in CTE opportunities
February is National Career and Technical Education Month. Career and Technical Education, or CTE, is education that directly prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers. CTE covers many different fields including health care, information technology, advanced manufacturing, hospitality, management and many more areas. CTE includes many different types of educational experiences from classroom learning to certification programs as well as work-based learning opportunities outside of the classroom.
Thanks to the Five Star community’s support of a $350 million bond issue, the Adams 12 Five Star School District is preparing for a large investment into additional opportunities for students interested in CTE programming. This will include the renovation and expansion of the existing Bollman Technical Education Center and the construction of a second district Career and Technical Education Center scheduled to open in 2019. This will allow 80 percent more of Adams 12 students to take advantage of CTE learning opportunities.
Parents are invited to discuss present and future CTE programming during a Board of Education Community Meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, at Vantage Point High School, 10900 Huron St., Northglenn.
